TOGAF THE WAY AHEAD

The enterpreauners, here today wish to be up there tomorrow. Each one of them wishes to grow and each one of them has a vision about growth. The path up is not easy to tread. It requires courage and clarity of vision. Clarity of vision brings employees to know what they must know and what is it that the top management desires them to do. Assigning a purpose to the vision gives it a direction. TOGAF practices teach that the director of this vision of growth will be someone who has received TOGAF certification namely, enterprise architect.
What is it that enterprise architects do? To start with these are the professionals who actually study each and every aspect of future vision. The goals set by the top management bring the future target in picture. Challenges required to be met to accomplish these goals bring stretching of this vision. Enterprise architects design the strategy to bring a process to the vision.  In other words the enterprise architects strip the vision apart to know exactly what the future target is. TOGAF course will enlighten you on the aspects of vision and its underlying meanings.
Thereafter, the enterprise architects begin to understand the working of the organisation. What is it exactly that the organisation does? This question is answered by way of data collection from almost all wings of the organisation, be it manufacturing unit, IT wing, procurement wing, delivery and stores wing, marketing and even Human Resource. Once the data gets analysed the real picture regarding the future vision compared to capacity of accomplishing it starts emerging. The vital gaps are then identified and listed to formulate the key result areas that need improvement in order to meet the future targets. The gaps above need to be filled by study of the future market trends and the technology likely to be available. Based on what exists on the ground, the gaps that need to be plugged and the future trends in technology and market places, the enterprise architects  draw a plan  to introduce changes in a phased manner that if followed logically will bring growth. This is the essence of enterprise architecture and TOGAF certification shall make you one.
The above three phases of an enterprise architect’s work are accomplished by his getting an adequate knowledge about the IT framework and IT policies of the organisation and the practices suggested in TOGAG certification regarding operations of IT wing. It goes without saying that good IT frameworks and IT policies improve IT services of the organisation and it helps to reduce the IT wing expenses which are anyway the highest in any organisation. Reduction in IT costs and improvement in IT services bring in the revenue as savings and wins the loyalty of the customers which spells success for the growth of its brand name in the marketplace.
A periodic review of developments brought about by the enterprise architecture and that of the enterprise architecture itself ensures that the organisation can achieve its futuristic targets without actually disturbing the existing operations. TOGAF certification is thus worth doing.
